Easter Weekend, And Signs not to Miss

So for Easter weekend we traveled to the big city of Mart. That is about 25 minutes outside of Waco. And the population of maybe 1500, that may be counting the dogs. So really there is nothing in Mart worth seeing, except my parents and grandmother.
Me, My Parents and Nanny Short. (My dad's mom)
Saturday while my mom was at work we drove around to check out a few note worthy place's in the area.
While checking out the area, my dad showed us this peaceful looking little lake that has camping at Fort Parker State Park. Kinda over use of the park word i know. But what was more interesting is the sign walking up to the water.
This is not a sign you want to miss!!!!!! And i am always worried about snakes, this will not be a place we ever, ever camp.
So on we went over and checked out the actual Fort Parker which is just outside Mexia. Now for those of you like me that don't speak Spanish, the x is pronounced like an H. Why they don't use an H, i have no idea. Anyway the Fort is kinda neat. It is kinda spread out, so you can visit the actual Fort, or the camping area, or the cemetery. At the fort site there are other buildings they have moved over there and apparently they did not proof the sign order. See if you catch it, i did not at first. Michael pointed it out.

It was only one number off!!!
The Drive to the fort was lovely with trees. And we finally saw some nice bluebonnets!
It was a nice weekend in Mart. And after attending the Mexia Branch for church. We went home and had a nice Easter dinner of Brisket. And a healthy dessert. So good we can only show you half of the cake!!
Hope all had a great weekend and remembered Christ in what ever is the your family tradition.

Trip to Utah, Day Three

Okay so day three was less adventures. It was sunday and the whole purpose for our trip was to attend General Conference. So we had tickets to attend the morning and afternoon session. (GC is 2 hours of music and talks given from the leaders of the church, and it is held twice a year.) So here we are after the morning with a great view of the Salt Lake Temple. By the way the sunlight was so bright!

And here is Katie and Jesse. I just have to say that i take pretty good photos!! Michael had never been to the Church History Museum. So after the PM session we went thru the museum. I have the odd attraction to hand carts. I just think wow to go across the land with everything you own in that is amazing. I was super excited to see the Joseph and Emma Smith dolls that a sweet, very talented sister in Georgetown made was still on display. Way to go Cheryl they are amazing.

Okay so i am not sure what i am doing wrong with the whole slide show. But if you click on view all images you can see our visit to Temple Square on Sunday night.

Thanks Katie and Jesse for coming up with the idea. We are so blessed to have you two in our lives. We love you both tons.

Today is My Dad's Birthday.

Hey just wanted to send a quick Happy Birthday to my dad. He was and is a fun, playful dad and granddad. He has gotten in trouble many times for getting all the kids and later grandkids worked up playing silly games when they should be peaceful or sitting quietly. So the photo is a from a few christmas ago, but you can see he is totally silly!!! Happy Birthday Daddy. Love you tons.

Trip to Utah, Day Two

Saturday found us traveling to Heber. To ride the Heber Valley Train. It was about 2 hours long. And the scenery was very pleasant. It was snowing on the drive up there, but once on the train it stopped snowing.I think that this may have been Jesse's first train ride. I don't think he enjoyed the same way we do. For us it is a family tradition to go on train rides while on vacations.
But it did seem to put both of them to sleep for a while on the way back. Here we all are at the switch back point. It was a little cloudy. But still a nice view. And yes COLD!!!
What's that old saying? Speak no evil, Hear no evil, See no evil. If you notice Jesse is the only one able to keep a straight face.
Next we stopped off in Park City. Just incredible views.
And the homes are crazy on the mountain side, as you can see.
And of course we can not pass by large amounts of snow and not have a snow ball fight. (There is a cute video, but i have to learn how to load it.) So here are some random snow ball fight photos.
Notice how large the guys snow balls are. They are more like basketballs coming at you.
And face don't seem to be off limits!!! By the way my hair actually froze!!
Our last stop of the day was at a tubing place. But we deiced that we were not dressed correctly. And it looked like it was going to start to snow again. And we were all pretty tired. So that ended our second day in Utah.

Trip to Utah, Day One

Whoa flying is fun, especially if you have a good book and ipod! And you get the emergency exit seats that have plenty of leg room!
So When we landed at Salt Lake Airport, we were greeted with SNOW! I was pretty excited.
But more so, we had a very special passenger on our flight, Dierks Bentley. For those who listen to Country you will know who he is. Those that don't check out his album, he is pretty good. We sat next to one of his band members. Then afterwards, we waited for him down in baggage claim. Katie asked for his autograph and if we could take a picture with him. He was very nice.

From there we went to Lunch at Crown Burgers, across from LDS Business Collage. It was very good. Katie and Jesse deiced that we should eat at places that are not in Texas. That worked out for the most part. We only had one meal that Katie and I were not happy with.
After full tommies and being dazed by the sight of someone famous, we checked into our hotel. The kids are taking classes on line. So they did a little homework. Then everyone rested. That night Katie and Jesse went to Lehi for his Mission Reunion.

Me and Michael went to Temple square and then to dinner at ThaiFoon in the Gateway. It was great. They have a great waterfall that separates the kitchen. I was too hungry to take any photos of the resturant. Besides we did not want to totally look like tourist!!!!
And that was the end of day One.
